Ports along the U.S. southeast Atlantic Coast and Gulf Coast were slowly reopening after Hurricane Idalia battered the regions.
Ports on the Gulf of Mexico side of Florida remained closed early Thursday as recovery efforts were underway.
Ships appeared to be waiting for the port of Tampa to reopen to be able to head into terminals operated by Chevron, Marathon and Motiva, ship scheduling data showed.
On the Atlantic side of Florida, the port of Jacksonville reopened Wednesday afternoon as well as Port Everglades, which was open with normal operations. A couple of jet fuel cargoes were scheduled for delivery at Port Everglades Thursday at the Valero terminal, port data showed.
Up Atlantic Coast in Charleston in South Carolina, the port remained closed under port condition recovery.
Also, Port Savannah in Georgia remained closed, but land operations were underway with terminals open.
The National Hurricane Center downgraded Idalia to a tropical storm as it makes its way north across the Carolinas. The storm was predicted to cause coastal flooding in North Carolina Thursday.
