Google parent Alphabet Inc. is eliminating dozens of jobs from its X technology lab and seeking more outside funding, according to a Bloomberg report, citing people familiar with the matter.
The staff reduction comes on the heels of several rounds of layoffs at the company

in recent weeks that have claimed hundreds of jobs.
Astro Teller, who leads the division, told Bloomberg the division was looking to collaborate with “a broader base of industry and financial partners” as it looks to spin out more projects with market-based funding.
Like its Big Tech brethren, Google is shedding jobs after overstaffing for years, only to encounter a significant dip in advertising sales. Alphabet is scheduled to announce its quarterly results on Jan. 30.
