The Financial Times and its research partner, Statista, are launching a new project: to identify the best companies to work for — in different regions of the world. Employees will be invited to provide evaluations of their employers, and these assessments will be used to compile a ranking of the ‘Best Employers’ across a region.

Research is now beginning on the first of these rankings: for employers in the Asia-Pacific region.

It will be carried out in two stages:

  1. FT readers will be invited to nominate a company for inclusion in the ‘Best Employer’ research, by filling in this simple online form (2 minutes to complete). Readers may be employees of the company nominated, or nominate them in another capacity. Each nominated company will be checked and, if it meets the eligibility criteria for the research (see below), it will be added to a list of companies entering stage two: the employee survey. In addition, Statista will research thousands of companies using numerous sources (industry associations, trade journals, economic research institutes, etc) to compile a list of eligible employers in the Asia-Pacific region;

  2. Employees of nominated companies will be contacted via online access panels to complete a questionnaire. These panels comprise workers from thousands of companies across the region who have already agreed to take part in anonymous online surveys (and have therefore not been selected or influenced by their employers, ensuring independence). In addition, employees and FT readers will be invited to participate in the survey via the FT website, from May 2 to June 20. Employees will be asked to evaluate their own employer and companies other than their own, based on their experience of them. Both full-time and part-time employees may participate.

Based on the survey evaluations, every company will receive a score and the highest scoring 500 companies will be included in the final ranking. This will be published in a special report with the Financial Times newspaper, and on FT.com, on November 14, 2024.

To be eligible for inclusion in the Best Employers Asia-Pacific research, companies must have at least 1,000 employees across the whole region, in one or more of the following 14 countries:

Australia; Hong Kong; India; Indonesia; Japan; Macau; Malaysia; New Zealand; Philippines; Singapore; South Korea; Taiwan; Thailand; Vietnam.

Nominations may be made via the online form up until April 5, 2024.

Employee surveys will take place from May 2024. If you would like to be informed about the survey phase, or have questions about participation, please send an email to: [email protected].

Please note: a nomination does not guarantee a company’s participation in the survey phase — the surveys and evaluations will be subject to eligibility and completed independently.
