At long last, there is a valuable use of artificial intelligence software.
It can tell you what to watch next on TV.
Tubi, the ad-supported streaming video service from Fox Corp. (ticker: FOXA), this morning unveiled Rabbit AI, a new tool powered by OpenAI’s ChatGPT-4 generative AI software. Rabbit AI is designed to help viewers figure out what they should watch next on the streaming service.
Tubi provides free ad-supported programming, in the form of both video on demand and FAST channels, narrowly programmed ad-supported linear TV. The service has a library of over 200,000 movies and TV episodes, and close to 250 FAST channels. The challenge for Tubi viewers is finding programming that matches their content preferences.
According to Nielsen, Tubi accounted for 1.4% of all U.S. TV usage in July, an audience about on par with
Warner Bros. Discovery’s
(WBD) Max, and ahead of services such as
Comcast
‘s (CMCSA) Peacock, the Roku Channel, and Paramount Global’s (PARA) Paramount+.
Rabbit AI is intended to allow viewers to make their preferences known in natural language queries, such as “show me a list of funny shark movies,” or “scary movies with clowns,” or maybe “reality shows about dating.”
Tubi said Rabbit AI will begin rolling out in beta on Tubi’s iOS mobile app in the U.S. starting today, with wider availability in coming weeks.
