Sportsman’s Warehouse Holdings has tapped veteran retail executive Paul Stone to take the helm of the sporting goods retailer.
The West Jordan, Utah, company on Tuesday said Stone, who earlier this month resigned as president and chief operations officer of car-rental company Hertz Global Holdings, is joining on Nov. 1 as president, chief executive and a member of the board.
Prior to joining Hertz in 2018, Stone spent nearly three decades with Walmart’s Sam’s Club unit and also spent two years with Cabela’s.
Sportsman’s Warehouse said Stone, 58 years old, will receive an annual base salary of $1.1 million and an annual bonus with a target of 150% of his base pay.
Sportsman’s Warehouse’s Chairman Joseph Schneider has been serving as interim president and CEO since Jon Barker retired in April.
The company on Tuesday said Schneider will continue to serve as independent chairman until he retires from the board at the end of the year, adding that Rich McBee, a board member since November 2018, will succeed him.
