Sheryl Sandberg, the longtime chief operating officer of Meta Platforms Inc. who left in September 2022 after 14 years, is now leaving the company’s board of directors.
Sandberg, who announced her departure in a Facebook post, will become an informal adviser to the company in May.
“With a heart filled with gratitude and a mind filled with memories, I let the Meta
META,
board know that I will not stand for reelection this May,” Sandberg wrote on Facebook.
In April, Sandberg said she was part of an investor group that was awarded a Bay Area expansion franchise in the National Women’s Soccer League.
