$60 Costco membership with free $40 gift card

I sat down to write about the benefits of having a Costco membership now — at the start of the holiday season, when you don’t really have the time to spend on multiple trips to the grocery store rather than buying in bulk. But, dear reader, that wouldn’t be the complete picture in my case. For me, Costco is church. I’m kidding, of course, but I am a big fan of the warehouse club, and think it’s great any time of the year no matter your shopping needs. Which is why I’m delighted to highlight today’s deal in partnership with Stacksocial: Costco 1-Year Gold Star Household Membership ($60 value) + a $40 Digital Costco Shop Card for just $60 total.

This deal scores you one household card, meaning in addition to your membership you can give another member of your household (at your address) access to the membership. With the Gold Star membership program you unlock perks, including online and in-store shopping, gas savings, and the warehouse retailer’s 100% satisfaction guarantee. Plus, the $30 Costco shop card gets you an additional wealth of savings.

What reviewers say about the Costco Gold Star Membership

Whether a Costco membership is right for you generally depends on how much you plan to shop and how large your household is — the more you shop larger hauls, the greater your savings will be. CNET writes, “We calculated about $1,000 in savings annually for a household of two for yearly needs of 25 staple grocery items by buying at Costco rather than a conventional grocery store.” What’s more, “$1,000 in savings over the course of the year averages to just over $80 in savings per month, meaning that your $60 membership pays for itself in the first month,” the reviewer says.

Stacksocial customers who have sprung for the deal previously give it an average of 4.8 stars. Many were particularly jazzed by the addition of the $30 Costco card (now $40). “A great bargain — Costco has so many products at a reduced cost and the digital $30 shopping card effectively cut the price of a year’s membership in half,” one customer writes. Now, with the card bonus at $40, it’s an even better bargain.

To be sure, a Costco membership may not be for everyone. If you don’t have one nearby and aren’t keen on bulk shopping online, it may not be worth springing for this deal. And of course, if your household is smaller and won’t use it often, it may be better to save the $60. (That said, speaking as a single woman in the New York metro area, I think $60 to be kept in $1.50 hot dog combos, endless toilet paper and sheet cake, is totally worth it.)

How to claim this deal: Once you buy the deal on Stacksocial, you’ll receive redemption codes and instructions on how to claim the deal. If you decide to spring for it and have any questions or concerns, you can contact their customer support team using this form.
