Hercules Site Services said on Monday that it has signed a five-year contract to provide Balfour Beatty Rail with a contingent labour resource, which will enable it to deliver its commitments during a five-year period starting in April.

The U.K. infrastructure-sector labor supplier has launched a new division within its Labour Supply business focused on the provision of specialist rail labour on live track to clients. Hercules didn’t provide a specific value for the contract.

Balfour Beatty has been awarded several contracts during Control Period 7, which involves a 44 billion pound ($53.85 billion) five-year plan for the railways in England and Wales, will run from April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2029. The key priorities during this five-year period are to deliver upgrades that will tackle climate change and improve train performance from current levels, Hercules Site said.

“This contract provides Hercules with an exciting new revenue stream which has strong potential for continued growth. This contract will see us recruit specialist rail labor on live track on behalf of a customer for the first time, opening up a wider range of opportunities for Hercules in the rail industry,” Chief Executive Officer Brusk Korkmaz said.

Shares at 0706 GMT were up 1.0 pence, or 3.9% at 26.5 pence.
