Founded in the UK in 2000, Investis describes itself as at the “forefront of corporate digital communications”. The Investcorp Asset Management-owned agency says it’s been “helping companies and brands leverage and maximize technology to build strong, relatable, and authentic online experiences.”

The above is a snapshot of an email that was sent out to recipients of one of Investis’s financial news alert services this afternoon, London time, under the subject “Tesco Plc RNS Alert”.
Here is a statement from an Investis spokesperson:
IDX (Investis Digital) is aware of reports that some of our clients’ alert subscribers have received unsolicited emails containing inappropriate content.
We take this matter very seriously and are actively investigating the issue.
We want to assure you that we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of service and security for our clients. Our team is working diligently to resolve this matter and prevent any future occurrences.
We appreciate the role of the media in keeping the public informed, and we will provide updates as more information becomes available and is confirmed.

Tesco did not immediately respond to a request for comment, and frankly we’d be surprised if they ever bother to.
